On Friday, October 9th, the Canadian Federal Government announced more supports to help businesses that have been affected by the on-going COVID-19 pandemic. While some areas of the economy have been recovering, many are still struggling with reduced revenues, increased costs, and the on-going uncertainty this pandemic presents. To aid struggling businesses at this time, the Federal Government is putting forth legislation that will expand current emergency responses to the pandemic.
This will include expansions on the Canadian Emergency Rent Subsidy (CERS), Canadian Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS), and the Canadian Emergency Business Account (CEBA).
These expansions will aid both for profit and non-profit businesses that have been affected by the pandemic, and will help to keep businesses afloat and employees employed throughout this time.
